PICTURE ONE - Twr Mawr Lighthouse (Wales)

We begin the course by illustrating the beautiful windmill-style lighthouse located in Anglesey, Wales. It's a really nice simple yet effective composition and therefore provides an accessible start to the course. I introduce important and fundamental techniques which we will use throughout the course (and beyond!).
PICTURE TWO - Texel Lighthouse (The Netherlands)

Next we move onto the iconic red lighthouse on Texel Island. The lighthouse has little cottages nestled around the base which makes for a lovely painting. There is an emphasis on how to interpret and simplify detail in an effective way, creating a loose and charming interpretation of the scene.
PICTURE THREE - Dyrholaey Lighthouse (Iceland)
19 BITE-SIZED SECTIONS 126 MINUTE DURATION
Finally we head to the southern tip of Iceland to recreate Dyrholaey Lighthouse. This incorporates a demonstration on 2-point perspective, which we then apply to our drawings. In addition, we also look at how we can make changes to the reference image to make our illustrations truly unique!

MEET THE ARTIST
I am an ink and watercolour illustrator originally from Cumbria now living near Leeds in Yorkshire; so I feel at home in both the Lake District and the Dales.
These beautiful local landscapes are a significant inspiration for me, however I also love visiting (and illustrating) less familiar areas such as the incredible Northumbrian castles or the lochside cottages of the Highlands.
